Angioplasty Saves Lives
Some believed angioplasty would never be available here in Northwestern Ontario. Others made sure it was. In a very short period, we went from sending 100% of patients in need of angioplasty to other centres, to providing 99% of them with service here at home.
The next step is to expand angioplasty service with a second cardiac catheterization lab at our Health Sciences Centre. When the project is complete, the second fully-equipped cardiac catheterization lab will open. Soon another Interventional Cardiologist will join our team. Emergency angioplasties will be available 24/7. When someone suffers a heart attack in the middle of the night, help will be here.
The total cost of the project is just over $12 million. The Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care has already invested more than $8 million, a demonstration of the importance of the lab to the people of our community.
In anticipation of the second cardiac catheterization lab, the Foundation focused recent efforts on funding this critical project. Now only $1 million remains. It must be raised quickly.
Your donation brings us closer to the day when no cardiac patient has to leave Northwestern Ontario to get the care they need. The people of Northwestern Ontario will have the Gold Standard of cardiac treatment they deserve. We’ll heal more hearts. We’ll save more lives. Here.
