Orthopaedic Surgery Equipment

The orthopaedic team needs your help to make faster access to surgery a reality. Since they travel to different hospitals,
they need to bring special sets of power equipment to perform these much-needed surgeries like joint replacements.

Right now, they only have a few sets, but they need more to ensure they can provide as many surgeries as possible in a day, because the sets cannot be cleaned in between surgeries quickly enough. It’s imperative that they have enough sets, otherwise they cannot perform multiple surgeries. This specialized equipment is not funded and can only be purchased thanks to generous donations like yours.

Will you join me in making a gift to support the necessary tools our surgeons need to help keep us mobile?

Retinal Imaging Camera

We are very much in need of a new Retinal Imaging Camera at the Lions Vision Care Centre. The camera is a tool used to look at damage to retinas – caused by anything from diabetes to inflammation to retinal tears. Approximately 1,500 patients will benefit from this equipment every year.

With the current camera, ophthalmologists are only able to view a portion of the retina. You’d be amazed at the features of the new camera. First of all, we can see almost double the area of the retina that we can see now. Better yet, the treatment requires no dilation, contact lenses or pressure on the eye; making the entire treatment much more comfortable. Most importantly, it will give patients the opportunity to receive this critical treatment here at home.

CT Scanner

For you, a new CT scanner means more detailed, 3D images so we can see exactly what’s happening in your body. It means faster scans. We’re talking about a difference of a scan taking 25 seconds, to a rapid scan in 4 seconds.

And it’s not just better care for you. It’s better care for the 70 people being scanned. Every. Single. Day.

Cardiac Catheterization Lab Equipment

We have recently added brand new equipment to the cardiac catheterization lab, including a new C-arm (specialized x-ray equipment), a new patient bed, and new video monitors. Software in the second lab was upgraded and now both labs are able to offer 3D imaging, with incredible clarity, using less radiation. Help ensure our interventional cardiology team can continue to save lives 24/7.
