Local Surgeon Elected as Chairman of OMA Section of Plastic Surgery, delegate to OMA Council

Well-known Plastic Surgeon Dr. Mark Thibert was recently elected Chairman of the Ontario Medical Association (OMA) Section of Plastic Surgery and delegate to OMA Council. It is in addition to his roles as Chief of Surgery at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, President of the Professional Staff Assocation, and Associate Professor at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine.

Dr. Thibert explains his new role with the OMA. “The Section of Plastic Surgery is a community that provides an area to share information within the clinical, practice-type or specialty interest-oriented groups of physician members. We share information amongst each other through announcements, newsletters etc.”

He adds, “The Section of Plastic Surgery needs strong leadership with a unified voice. I am happy to provide that representation at OMA council and be the ‘voice’.”

Dr. Thibert has been a member of OMA for 38 years with 25 of those years spent in Thunder Bay. His work includes community work, rural environments, along with academics and research. He looks forward to serving his term upholding his values of integrity, commitment, loyalty, accountability and responsibility.
