Marinos Just Wants to Say a Big Thanks!
September 9, 2017
Last Friday, the Hospital got a big boost for cardiac care when long-time Marathon resident and business owner, Marinos Spourdalakis, presented a $10,000 donation to the Northern Cardiac Fund.
“I just want to say thank you,” he said after making his donation. “I’ve been very fortunate to receive wonderful care here at the Hospital and I just think it’s important to recognize that.”
Specifically Marinos wanted to highlight three physicians who’ve made a world of difference to him – Dr. Prowse, Dr. Sicheri and Dr. Nigro. “They have helped me tremendously,” he enthused. “Along with the entire staff here at the Hospital – everyone from Ambulatory Care to the Surgical Day Care, to the nurses on the wards. We are so, so privileged to have this facility here in Northwestern Ontario and the people who work so hard to take care of us here.”
Marinos has spent his fair share of time in the facility. He lives with just one kidney, has been treated for bladder cancer and is about to head to Toronto for heart valve replacement surgery (something which, in a few years, he’ll be able to have done here in Thunder Bay). A true philanthropist at heart, Marinos has ensured that the hospitals in both Marathon and Thunder Bay will be able to continue to serve families in Northwestern Ontario. “I just want to say thanks,” he concluded.
