Red Lake, ON – Donors across Northwestern Ontario continue to provide HOPE and exceptional cancer care services thanks to donations to the Northern Cancer Fund of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation. Today it was announced that Red Lake Margaret Cochenour Memorial Hospital was the recipient of a grant in the amount of $2,300 for a new Vital Signs Monitor.

“Red Lake Hospital is very pleased to receive this funding. The new Vital Signs Machine will replace an aging machine and will result in more options for monitoring patient condition with greater ease and efficiency,” said Angela Bishop, President and CEO, Red Lake Margaret Cochenour Memorial Hospital. “The ability to continue to provide chemotherapy services within our community is of vital importance for those local residents who are battling cancer. We are grateful for the support shown by donors to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation.”

Glenn Craig, President & CEO, Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation remarked, “Donors to the Northern Cancer Fund truly embody the word exceptional. They ensure that we are able to continue to strengthen our region’s cancer program and provide exceptional cancer care close to home at 13 sites across Northwestern Ontario. Most importantly, they allow patients to have hope as they receive treatment. This new Vital Signs Monitor will be a necessary addition to the already wonderful services that cancer patients can find in Red Lake.”

This grant represents an ongoing commitment by donors to the Northern Cancer Fund to provide exceptional cancer care for patients receiving care at Red Lake Margaret Cochenour Hospital. Previously, between 2006 and 2014, $48,885.28 was committed to the Hospital to fund new cancer care equipment. This new grant brings the 11-year total of investments to $51,185.28. None of it would have been possible without the community’s continued support of the Northern Cancer Fund.
