Super Sunday for 50/50 Winner
July 21, 2018
Rheal Desaulniers had just finished watching the final putt of the 2018 Staal Foundation Open when he decided to stick around for the Closing Ceremonies out at Whitewater Golf Course. To his great surprise, a few moments later, Linda Staal pulled out a ticket from a raffle drum and he heard his name being called out – as the winner of the 50/50 draw! Thanks to his win, Rheal takes home $5,492.50 (ticket #7382) with the other half of the funds going to the Northern Cancer Fund to support exceptional cancer care in Northwestern Ontario.
“Many of our raffles don’t require the winner to be present, but it’s always nice to have the winner there to hear their name get called,” said Devon Sokoloski, Special Events Officer. “We had a great time being at the Staal Foundation Open this year. This was our fourth year running the 50/50 draw, which to date has raised $18,200 for the Northern Cancer Fund. We want to sincerely thank our volunteers that were out at Whitewater Golf Club every day of the tournament to help us sell tickets, and to all the volunteers who sold for us in the hospital lobby. We are very grateful to the Staal Foundation Open for welcoming us onsite to sell these tickets, and for their commitment to exceptional cancer care.”
