Red Lake, ON – Across Northwestern Ontario, donors are continuing to make HOPE possible for cancer patients and their families. Thanks to generous donors to the Northern Cancer Fund of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation, patients in Red Lake will benefit from a new Stretcher for the Endoscopy program. A grant for $11,175 was provided to Red Lake Margaret Cochenour Memorial Hospital to fund this equipment.

Angela Bishop, CEO, Red Lake Margaret Cochenour Memorial Hospital commented, “The donation of funds for the stretcher means that we were able to purchase a dedicated stretcher for the endoscopy program rather than removing from other patient care areas; the additional stretcher also expands the hospital's capacity to respond to over-capacity situations. The RLMCMH is very grateful for the support for our cancer screening colonoscopy program.”

Glenn Craig, President & CEO, Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation remarked, “We talk about providing closer-to-home care often, but what we really want to provide is exceptional care closer-to-home. Thanks to our donors, we can ensure that cancer patients across Northwestern Ontario don’t have to choose between remaining at home and having quality care. Being surrounded by family and friends is so important during this difficult journey. We are proud to be able to continue to fund critical equipment for cancer care in communities across Northwestern Ontario. ”

This grant represents an ongoing commitment by donors to the Northern Cancer Fund to provide exceptional cancer care for patients receiving care at Red Lake Margaret Cochenour Memorial Hospital. This new grant brings the 12-year total of investments to $62,360.28. None of it would have been possible without the community’s continued support of the Northern Cancer Fund.
