Volunteers are the Heart of the Health Sciences Foundation

Heather and Ken White are a few of the Health Sciences Foundation’s dedicated volunteers.

Heather and Ken have been volunteering since their children were young.  They started within the schools and also volunteered for numerous groups such as the Loon Lake Association, the Tennis Club, the Staal Open, the U18 Baseball World Cup and Special Olympics.  They have both taken part in numerous volunteer opportunities like selling 50/50 tickets throughout the year and helping at events such as the Resolute Save a Heart Ball and the Tbaytel Motorcycle Ride for Dad.

When asked why they volunteer, Heather shared that they get way more out of it than what they put in. Both Heather and Ken have used the hospital for different purposes so they wanted to give back to the hospital by giving their time.  Not only does it give them the opportunity to see people and spend time with one another but it also gives them purpose. Apart from volunteering, their passion is their family and friends.

The Health Sciences Foundation is so thankful to have such a dedicated duo like Heather and Ken who will come in to sell tickets whenever they are able to.  There are no words to explain how much we appreciate them! Heather and Ken are great role models in showing the importance of volunteering in our community.  On numerous occasions they have brought their grandson Joel to volunteer with them, not only to teach him the importance of giving back but to spend quality time together.

Many other outstanding individuals volunteer their time with the Health Sciences Foundation. Their combined efforts help ensure the success of fundraising events and initiatives. Each volunteer is valued and celebrated as a champion of healthcare in our community.

The Health Sciences Foundation always requires volunteers to assist with many of our events, ticket sales and office duties. If you are interested and are able to spare some time to raise funds for patient care, please contact the Health Sciences Foundation at (807) 345-4673 or email us here.
