Speaker Series – Understanding Henson Trusts

apr-17-2019-henson-trusts

April 17, 2019

Want to learn more about Henson Trusts?

Be sure to join lawyers Fhara Pottinger and Margaret Waddington from Weilers Law for an informative evening on Thursday, April 25 at 7 p.m. in the Georgian Room at St. Joseph’s Care Group (63 Carrie St).

Fhara and Margaret will be discussing Henson Trusts, which benefit disabled loved ones, giving the trustee absolute discretion over how the trust’s money will be paid to the beneficiary. A Henson Trust is a way of structuring your Estate that protects an individual beneficiary that is, or may likely be on, government assistance (Ontario Works, collecting a Disability Benefit, or having other special needs) to make sure they can still benefit from their inheritance without compromising their government assistance.

Coffee, tea, water and cookies will be available!

R.S. V. P. to legacygivingthunderbay@gmail.com or by calling Katie at (807) 766-7424.

About the Speakers:

Fhara Pottinger

Fhara’s practice focuses primarily in the areas of wills and estates (including estate litigation), family law, corporate and commercial law and real estate law. She has taken over the helm of Weilers’ Saturday morning Wills Clinic, often joined by her dog Lulu, who’s been dubbed the Wills Clinic mascot.

Margaret Waddington

Margaret chose Family Law because she loves working with people, and hearing their stories. She approaches her practice with a compassionate, collaborative focus aimed at achieving effective resolutions for her clients. She’s paired Family Law with Wills and Estates work, and assists Fhara with the Walk-in Wills Clinic on Saturday mornings.
