The Volunteer Association to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre has been associated with hospitals in Thunder Bay for 116 years. Through active participation in fundraising & volunteer service, this dedicated group of volunteers makes a significant impact on Patient and Family Centered Care.

For 2018, the Volunteer Association has committed to donate $30,000 for Family Care Grants, $9000 for scholarships and bursaries, $5000 for the Clothing Cupboard, $16,800 for three heated chemotherapy chairs, and $500 to the volunteer gardeners. They have also committed to donate $160,000 to the Northern Cardiac Fund in support of the cardiovascular surgery program over five years (2018-2022).

The Association owns and operates Seasons Gift Shop and Lottery Centre. In addition to the great volunteer service they provide, annual educational bursaries are awarded to the Northern School of Medicine, Lakehead University, Confederation College, TBRHSC Student Volunteers and TBRHSC Nurses.
