The Lions Club of Thunder Bay recently visited the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, bearing not one, but three gifts to support various areas of the Hospital.

The Lions Vision Care Centre is an area that’s always front and centre for the Lions due to their dedication to improving sight worldwide. Their most recent gift of $3,000 went to support the purchase of a new Retinal Imaging Camera – a tool that will help Ophthalmologists better examine the retinas, to search for damage caused by anything from inflammation to diabetes. This gift supported the many gifts previously made by members of our community and provided the final tally so the camera could be purchased.

The Lions also generously contributed $2,000 each to the Northern Cancer Fund and Northern Cardiac Funds.  Past President, Steve Smith said, “Cancer and cardiac care are both very important to our community and our city. Making sure our Hospital has the means to take care of our families and neighbours is important to our members and we’re proud to be able to contribute to the world-class care that’s provided here.”
