The Westgate Tigers have done it again! In the month of October, the Westgate Tigers Junior and Varsity Girls basketball teams traded their usual black and orange for pink for Tigers for a Cure, all in support of the Northern Cancer Fund for breast cancer. In addition to collecting pledges, donations were accepted at the event, with all proceeds supporting breast cancer research, diagnoses, and treatment, right here in Northwestern Ontario.

“It’s great to see the players so involved in fundraising for a worthwhile cause,” said Chuck Brown, head coach. “Players and spectators were decked out in pink, and even the game ball was pink. Keyra and Kayla Gallo raised over $1,000 in pledges this year, and Kayla, along with another player, Bella Carangi, cut and donated their hair at half time of the senior game. We are so proud of what we have accomplished and we are thrilled to be supporting healthcare in our community.”

This year, $2,056 was raised, bringing the total fundraising to date for Tigers to a Cure to $7,800. Interested in hosting your own fundraiser? For more information, please contact Joanna Coccimiglio at 345-4673 or coccimjo@tbh.net.
