Maybe you have seen it around town, a one-of-a-kind pink Jeep is doing more than turning heads across Thunder Bay, it's driving critical support for breast cancer care close to home.
The Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation, in partnership with Lakehead Motors, launched the Cruising for a Cure: Jeep Raffle back in September, with proceeds supporting the Northern Cancer Fund for breast cancer. The initiative is rooted in a deeply personal commitment from Lakehead Motors Dealer Principal Michael Comuzzi, who wanted to do more than simply write a cheque.
Cancer has touched Comuzzi's family and the Lakehead Motors team, inspiring him to take a hands-on approach to giving back. By donating a rare, fully loaded pink Jeep to be raffled, Comuzzi saw an opportunity to create meaningful impact while engaging the community in a memorable way.
“Losing a family member like that really affected me and my family, and then on top of it, one of my key managers at Lakehead has been fighting cancer and getting incredible care at the hospital, so after all of these things happening at once I really wanted to do something extra special this year for the Foundation to hopefully help more people beat cancer.”
The raffle is expected to raise up to $300,000, a significant investment into Thunder Bay's regional cancer program. Funds raised will support breast cancer diagnostics, treatment, and patient care at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, helping ensure patients across Northwestern Ontario can receive high-quality care without leaving the region. This level of funding directly strengthens local services, and supports frontline healthcare teams who care for patients during some of the most challenging moments of their lives.
At the centre of the campaign is a vehicle not many people have seen: a 2024 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 Final Edition in Tuscadero Pearl — a bold pink colour rarely seen on Canadian roads. The vehicle is one of only 300 produced and features a powerful 6.4-litre HEMI V8 engine, premium off-road capability, factory-installed upgrades, and exclusive Final Edition details.
Its rarity is matched by its price tag, valued at over $160,000, making the opportunity to win it through a raffle ticket a compelling proposition. With tickets starting at $25, participants are not only supporting an important cause but also gaining a chance to win a truly exceptional vehicle. And with Christmas just around the corner, a Cruising for a Cure ticket could make for a great Christmas gift.
The final early bird for $2,500 is being given away on January 5th, 2026 and then on January 16th, the Health Sciences Foundation will pick the winning ticket and one lucky person will be starting off the new year in style.
For the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation, the Cruising for a Cure: Jeep Raffle represents the power of community partnerships and purpose-driven giving. It is a reminder that when local businesses and residents come together, extraordinary things are possible — including driving life-changing cancer care forward, one ticket at a time.
