As February's Heart Month Closes, April's Chase the Case Awaits…

Message from Dr. Stephen Adams
Chair, Board of Directors, Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation

As we come to the end of Heart Month, I want to thank everyone for supporting some of the wonderful community events we had this month from oil changes to pocket hearts, from cream-filled cookies to cross-country skiing, from flowers to football snacks. By supporting all these local businesses, you also helped support local cardiac care with donations to the Northern Cardiac Fund through the Our Hearts at Home Campaign. Thanks for making a difference this month – and special thanks to the community businesses who stepped up to help!

I want to tell you about another event coming up: the Second Annual Bullseye Chase the Case Charity Auction Showdown presented by Doane Grant Thornton. This year, we'll be getting together on Thursday, April 16 at 6pm at the Valhalla Inn. If last year's event is any indication, it will be a fun and exciting one again!

Bullseye Chase the Case is the newest fun way to support local breast cancer care through the Northern Cancer Fund. A cross between “Deal or No Deal” and Netflix's new “What's in the Box”, Bullseye Chase the Case features a live auction of 20 silver cases containing 20 different prize packages, all worth about $1,000 each. The cases offer something for everyone including arborist services, concert and comedy tickets, venue rentals, beauty and self-care services, group experiences, home renovations, and more. Plus, the evening includes a delicious four-course meal before the live auction begins!

Bullseye Chase the Case also features our now-famous Bling Blitz. Some lucky winner will take home a pair of diamond earrings worth $1,000. You can play carnival-style games, buy tickets for a raffle, and bid in a silent auction. I'm also looking forward to hearing from Ashley Aitken, a local mother and breast cancer survivor, who will tell her story about why raising money for local breast cancer care and research is so important.

Oh, and one other thing. The live auction will finish with the coveted Golden Case. We'll all learn the details of what's inside that one closer to April through the Foundation's social media channels.

Last year's event was a massive success, so don't wait around for tickets to this year's Bullseye Chase the Case Charity Auction Showdown presented by Doane Grant Thornton! Regular Tickets are $125 for dinner and a seat in the auction. Or, treat yourself to VIP Tickets for only $150 and enjoy special accommodations including a table usher, access to a dedicated drink ticket station and bar, and prominent seating by the stage during dinner and the live auction.

This year, Foundation staff set a fundraising goal of $55,000 with all funds going to support breast cancer through the Northern Cancer Fund. But we'll need your help to get there. I personally invite you to come on out and join us as we make this year's live auction event even better!
