Former Principal of St. Jude School, John Pascuzzo, is teaming up with students to collect donations for the Tbaytel Motorcycle Ride for Dad. All donations to the event support the Northern Cancer Fund to provide exceptional treatment and research for prostate cancer in Northwestern Ontario. St. Jude students are now out in our community collecting pledges until June 10.

Former Principal, John Pascuzzo, surprised students at St. Jude School on May 21, as they were finishing their Spring Clean Up outside. The rumble of his motorcycle approaching alerted students that something special was happening and he rolled into the schoolyard to lots of oohs and aahhs. Students immediately began to excitedly ask each other what was going on.

Pascuzzo was formerly Principal at the school and was thrilled to return and say hello and make a special announcement, along with current Principal Cynthia Gordon.

“At St. Jude School, we recognize the importance of giving back to those in our community. This year, we will be holding a charity fundraiser  in support of Mr. Pascuzzo as he participates in the TBayTel Motorcycle Ride for Dad on June 15,” announced Gordon. “All the funds we raise as a school will be donated locally to the Northern Cancer Fund to continue to fund exceptional prostate cancer care and research.”

Pascuzzo has been participating in the Tbaytel Motorcycle Ride for Dad since 2004. He told students and staff, “Both my dad and my brother Peter are my inspiration. My Dad is a prostate cancer survivor. Peter, who also had cancer, participated in the event for a few years. His last ride was June 14, 2003, before he, unfortunately succumbed to cancer just two weeks shy of his 47th birthday. It is my extreme pleasure to continue in my brother’s footsteps, riding the bike he rode for years and carrying on the tradition by participating this year in the 19th anniversary TBayTel Motorcycle Ride for Dad.”

Pascuzzo encouraged students to provide HOPE to people who are faced with cancer. “Every dollar you raise helps to provide the equipment we need at the Hospital to help those we know to get better,” he said.

St. Jude students will be working hard collecting pledges until June 10. As a special incentive, for every $5 they raise, they’ll receive a ballot in a draw, hosted by the school, to win a new Google Chromebook!

The Tbaytel Motorcycle Ride for Dad takes place Saturday, June 15 at the Victoria Inn Hotel & Convention Centre on Arthur St. Everyone is welcome to watch riders take off at once during the ‘Roar for the Cure’ that takes place at 9:00 a.m.
