The Tbaytel Luncheon of Hope may not be happening this year, but breast cancer doesn't stop in the face of a pandemic. For patients with breast cancer, the reality of this pandemic has added an even greater and unimaginable layer of stress to an already difficult time. Now, more than ever, breast cancer patients who are treated here, need our community’s help.

In true neighbourly fashion, Tbaytel partnered with the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation to launch the Tbaytel Art & Design Auction of Hope, to ensure that local breast cancer patients have access to the best diagnosis and treatment possible, close to home. This fully online auction will feature 18 different package of items such as artwork or professional services, all of which were locally donated.

The auction launched today and will run until Monday, October 26 at 9:00 A.M. EST. Items can be viewed and bids can be placed at healthsciencesfoundation.ca/auction

All proceeds will go Northern Cancer Fund for breast cancer and will specifically support a new mammography unit in the Linda Buchan Centre that features state-of-the-art tomosynthesis and stereotactic biopsy unit. Our community has always highly valued close-to-home care. Today's reality cements this value more than ever.

“The great work done through the Northern Cancer Fund is vital to the patients and communities it serves. With more than 400 employees who live and work right here in Northwestern Ontario, Tbaytel knows that when we give back to initiatives like the Art and Design Auction of Hope, we are not just helping our community and the incredible work done at the Linda Buchan Centre, but our neighbours, our friends and our families,” said Kathleen Jones, Tbaytel Vice President - Sales, Marketing & Communication.

At the launch of the auction, local Artist and Teacher with the Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board, Caterina Tolone shared, “I was extremely honoured when I was asked to be a featured artist for this event in support of the Northern Cancer Fund. I've always wanted to use my talents and art in some capacity to give back my community. As a past employee of the Health Sciences Foundation, I am very aware of the importance of community giving to our hospital. My art reflects the pride I have for living in Thunder Bay. The painting I am auctioning off is of the Sleeping Giant and is loaded with texture - paper, sand, rocks, paint etc. Its dramatic colours and layers reflect its title ‘Autumn Winds’. Let this image act as a symbol for our community, reminding us to work together for the greater good.”

Our community is invited to bid generously on the multitude of items including artwork, interior design services, photography, furniture, clothing and more.

Together, for better breast cancer care.
