Your donations at work - funding equipment for the Linda Buchan Centre

The GE Senographe Pristina machine purchased for the Linda Buchan Centre, made possible by a grant of $475,000 from the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation

Earlier this year, a GE Senographe Pristina machine was purchased for the Linda Buchan Centre, which replaced an older mammography machine. In addition to routine mammographic imaging and biopsies, this new unit has the ability to produce tomography images. Tomography allows the technologist to perform specialized images of the breast in layers for the breast radiologists to read. This is especially valuable for patients presenting with dense breasts. In the past year, the Linda Buchan centre saw over 6800 patients, with over 4500 for mammography and over 2300 for ultrasound.

This piece of equipment has helped continue to provide exceptional cancer care at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. The GE Senographe Pristina machine was made possible by a very generous grant of $475,000 from Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation. This would not be possible without the support of our generous donors.
