Employee Donors: The Heartbeat of Better Care

This past Wednesday, the Health Sciences Foundation proudly hosted its annual Employee Recognition Luncheon at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre. This special gathering is all about celebrating Hospital employees who give so generously through payroll deduction. It's a chance to come together, share in the incredible impact of the past year, and enjoy a delicious meal as a heartfelt thank-you for their generosity.

In 2024 alone, Employee Donors contributed an amazing $111,775.48. These funds will directly support critical equipment needs for patients and their families at the Hospital. Thanks to Tbaytel's ongoing commitment to healthcare in our region, an additional $7,500 was added through their annual matching program, making these gifts go even further.

“The continued support from Tbaytel by matching funds up to $7,500 goes a long way,” shared Robert (Scott) Srigley, Systems Specialist at the Hospital and Chair of the Employee Giving Committee. “It's supporting our program and what we strive to do to improve support for our front line staff.”

One of the unique things about Employee Giving is that staff can choose exactly where their donations go within the Hospital, making their support deeply personal and meaningful. Our Hospital employees are the foundation of local healthcare. Who better to lead the way in building a culture of philanthropy in Thunder Bay than the dedicated staff of one of our community's largest employers?

A special thank-you as well to Beefcake's Burger Factory, Superior Biscotti, and Robin's Donuts in the Hospital for their generous donations of lunch for the celebration — it was truly a community effort!
