Turning a Love of Speed into Support for Cancer Care
Published Tuesday, September 29, 2026

Jenelle Dawson, Development Assistant – Events, got a firsthand taste of the action during a ride-along at the Thunder Bay Autosport Club's Autocross fundraiser.
For over a decade, the Thunder Bay Autosport Club has turned a love of speed into a force for good. In 2026, their Autocross fundraiser raised $8,600 for the Northern Cancer Fund, bringing their lifetime giving to an incredible $96,651.81 since 2014.
The Club has been part of the Thunder Bay community since 1967, bringing people together through motorsport while promoting driving skills and giving back to the community.
I had the chance to experience the fun firsthand, riding along in a few different cars and seeing what all the excitement was about. Gary Adomko, President of the Thunder Bay Autosport Club, made me feel right at home and made sure the fun didn't stop all day!
What struck me most was how welcoming the Autosport community is. No matter your age or gender, everyone is invited to race, cheer, or just soak in the energy of fast cars.
So mark your calendars for next year. Come watch the action, or better yet, buckle up for a ride-along. I hope to see you there in 2027!
